Prosecutors seek arrest of ex-president Park Geun-hye

Former president accused of bribery, leaking government information, and abuse of power, in scandal brought her down.




South Korean prosecutors have sought an arrest warrant for impeached President Park Geun-hye, they said, days after questioning her over the corruption and abuse of power scandal that brought her down.
Park, 65, had her removal from office confirmed by the country's top court earlier this month, ending her executive immunity, and her prosecution has been a key demand of the millions of people who took to the streets to protest against her.
The former president is accused of multiple offences including bribery, leaking government information, and abuse of power in the scandal.

Ahlam Aref Ahmad al-Tamimi on FBI's Most Wanted list US charge against Ahlam Aref Ahmad al-Tamimi stems from a 2001 bombing at Jerusalem restaurant that killed 15. The FBI has placed a Jordanian woman who assisted in the 2001 suicide bombing of a Jerusalem restaurant on its "Most Wanted Terrorist" list. The US case against Ahlam Aref Ahmad al-Tamimi was filed under seal in 2013 but  announced publicly  by the justice department on Tuesday. The charge against al-Tamimi stems from an August 9, 2001, bombing at a Sbarro pizzeria that, in addition to killing 15 people, also injured some 120 others. Two of those killed were US nationals. After her capture, Tamimi, now in her mid-30s, pleaded guilty at trial in Israel and was sentenced in 2003 to 16 life prison terms. US police probe gang-rape streamed on Facebook Teenage victim may have known her attackers, who are believed to be all minors who 'terrorised' her neighbourhood. Chicago police were questioning several individuals on Wednesday who allegedly gang-raped a teenage girl and broadcast the assault on Facebook Live. The victim was a 15-year-old girl who went missing on Sunday in the crime-plagued city in the US Midwest. She was found on Tuesday and taken to a children's hospital for treatment. It was the latest in a series of troubling incidents in which violent acts have been streamed live on Facebook, including two fatal shootings and  the kidnapping and torture of a disabled 18-year-old. Authorities said on Wednesday they were investigating the incident as a criminal sexual assault.
